Installation
guide for BLC glass and mirror tiles
BLC glass and mirror
tiles are suitable for interior installations, including wet locations.
They are not porous and sized for compatibility with ceramic tiles. Installation
of glass and mirror tiles is similar to ceramic tiles. |

Important
- Apply only over
well-cured, stable substrates, otherwise stress- related cracks may develop
over time. |

Installation
- Recommended adhesive
for glass tiles is white colored Laticrete 4237 Latex thin- set mortar
additive used with Latierete 211 Crete filled powder, following manufacturers'
installation instructions. This ensures color consistency. For mirrors,
we recommend Palmer Mirror Mastic or Gunther Mirror Mastic. Spread the
adhesive with a notched trowel following the manufacturer's recommendations.
Spread only as much adhesive as will be covered with the tiles within
15 minutes.
Always, "back-butter" each piece of tile with the flat edge of the trowel
to provide a void-free installation and good contact with the mortar bed.
Carefully press the glass against the wall to prevent the notch marks
in the adhesive from showing through the glass.
Install tiles leaving even spacing between tiles of at least 1/16"(1.5mm).
Install control joints where the tile abuts restraining surfaces, and
around the perimeter of the tile work. Allow the adhesive to cure according
to the manufacturer's instructions (at least 24 hours). Grout with an
unsanded grout to prevent scratching of the surface. Grout joints should
be filled to approximately 2/3 of the thickness of the tile. This allows
light to reflect on the internal surfaces of the tile. |
